Published 21 April 2026
How can UK trade policy be improved to address stagnant productivity rates and boost growth while balancing security and other concerns such as jobs, the environment and security? This video provides some answers, focusing on the key recommendations stemming from the UK Trade Policy: An Independent Review which provides a comprehensive review of the UK’s trade policy and the extent to which it addresses today’s challenges. Recommendations include stronger parliamentary oversight, institutions and consultation, increased coherence across government and policy, greater clarity on international positions and enhanced support for business. The Review was conducted by the Centre for Inclusive Trade Policy in conjunction with Frontier Economics and the UK Trade Policy Observatory.
