Bio

Richard is a member of the Leadership Team at the Centre for Inclusive Trade Policy (CITP) and Professor of Economics at the University of Nottingham, School of Economics as well as a Research Fellow in the Centre for Globalisation and Economic Policy (GEP). He was promoted to a chair in Economics in 2011. Richard's main research interests are the causes and consequences of technological change. Included within this are the effects on digital technologies and productivity at the firm level and on international trade. This work has formed the basis for his collaborations and advisory work with the UK government. He is part of an ESRC hub (PROPEL) that is looking to boost productivity – and wellbeing – by supporting the growth of better workplaces in the UK. Through this work, Richard has worked on projects with the OECD and Amazon.
