Bio

Pinar Gunes is a Lecturer at the University of Sussex, and will be leading the development of a new Postgraduate course, in Applied Trade Policy at CITP, in collaboration with our colleagues in the Business School. Pinar is a specialist in international trade policy and her research focuses on welfare effects of trade shocks, labour market effects of trade, digital trade, and the impact of digitalisation on trade. Her recent research has focussed on quantification of trade effects of digitalisation and digital trade policies on trade and how global market entry status affects wage premia. She has published in reputable academic journals and working papers on trade policy. She also has extensive experience working in international organisations such as the International Labour Organisation and the World Bank. Prior to joining the University of Sussex, she served as a Trade Policy Analyst at the OECD. She holds a PhD from ETH Zurich and an MSc from University of Lausanne.
